HPX jacket is fantastic!

They usually have free shipping if your order is over 150 bucks. Not sure about actual 'free shipping codes' separate from that threshold though.

Hey, thinking of getting one of their offshore jackets, either the HPX or MPX. Is there a big difference between them for like, normal sailing or should I just save some cash and go with the cheaper one?

HPX is way more hardcore, like for ocean racing in the nastiest stuff. MPX is still super solid for offshore but maybe not full-on transatlantic. Depends how often you're actually out in a gale lol.

Yeah, I have an MPX and it's been great for coastal and some longer trips. Friend has HPX and says it's overkill unless you're really pushing it. HPX is also a bit stiffer, MPX is more comfy for general wear I think.

Is Musto really better than Helly Hansen? Like for real durability and staying dry in a downpour. Or is it just a brand name thing?

I've had both, and Musto just feels more robust, especially their higher-end stuff like HPX. My Helly jacket started wetting out faster. Musto Gore-Tex just holds up better IMO.

Depends on what you're comparing. For serious offshore, Musto is generally considered top-tier. Helly is great for recreational stuff and they have some good lines, but Musto often uses slightly more advanced tech in their premium gear. You pay for it though!

Anyone know how the sizing runs for Musto jackets? I'm usually a medium, sometimes a large depending on the brand. Don't want to deal with returns if I can avoid it.

I find them pretty true to size, maybe a tiny bit on the athletic fit side. If you're planning on layering a lot underneath, maybe size up. My BR1 is spot on for a M.

Yeah, generally true to size. I'd say if you're between sizes or want room for a thick fleece, go up. Their return policy is pretty straightforward though, so not a huge deal if you get it wrong.
